Ms. Shiela Morrison, Esq.,
Becoming an attorney is Shiela's second career after twenty-five plus years in the construction industry.
Shiela was a general contractor with a residential endorsement; building residential and commercial structures, acquiring permits, selling homes under contract, and expediting warranty work.
Shiela became a licensed associate building inspector for eight years and dealt with multiple codes, local/state/federal government restrictions with constant changes in the state regulations, adopted Municipal building codes, and building material specifications which made her choice to go into law a good fit. Shiela has pulled over 500+ building permits within the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska, subdivided land parcels into subdivisions and performed all the leg work to develop the subdivision into buildable lots.
Shiela served on the Board of Directors for the Alaska State Home Builders Association as well as the Mat-Su Home Builders Association for many years as Treasurer, Vice President, and then the first female President of the Mat-Su Home Builders Association for two years.
Shiela's construction company was approved through Veteran's Affairs to perform Special Adaptive Housing Grant remodels providing accessibility remodeling of their homes to qualified veteran's throughout Alaska. Shiela was also approved through the State of Alaska, Department of Health and Senior Services for accessibility remodels for qualified citizens through Alaska.
Add it all together and there is 30+ years of business management, bookkeeping/job costing, construction, and land development experience in the private sector before becoming a lawyer, which gives her a unique advantage over others whom have never worked directly in construction from start to finish, nor understand the responsibilities, pressure and costs that comes with being a GC, Subcontractor or Owner in construction. Shiela has that experience and she wants to help others with their legal needs with that first-hand experience and becoming an attorney was the best way to achieve that goal.
Education & License
Shiela's grandparents had a ranch in the Sweet Grass Hills in Montana north of Shelby, but during her K-12 years she lived in Havre to go to school. Shiela moved to Alaska for career opportunities and moved back to Montana in 2019 because there was not a law school in Alaska which made her career change the perfect opportunity to move back to Montana and be closer to family and enjoy some adult years with her father who is retired from oilfield and taught her his excellent work ethic.
Shiela's grandmother Gladys Morrison gets the credit for showing what integrity is and should be and although she taught that to Shiela's father too, her grandmother had a way of just, saying it the way it is. Shiela appreciated and adopted grandma's straight up approach. If you like a straight talker and prefer no puffery, Shiela is a good fit as your attorney.
